 Retriever Training

Black Labrador Retriever Master Hunter

I have had dogs my whole life and trained them even when I was a child.  In the last ten years I have been training retrievers professionally.  I have trained Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, and even a few Poodles, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and Novia Scotia Duck Tollers.  I have trained these dogs for all aspects of hunting; water fowl, up-land, and AKC and UKC Hunt Tests.  From my experience training, competing, and hunting my own dogs as well as client's dogs I know what it takes to make a great retriever!

Black labrador retriever running in the fieldI know that different dogs all learn differently and at their own pace.  You can not always expect the same thing out of each dog.  Each dog learns and progresses at their own speed and I help them with that by instilling confidence and training for success.  Because my dogs are trained this way they love to train and work sometimes too much.  They run with desire and enthusiasm after a bumper or a bird, for a mark or a blind.

Yellow labrador retriever swmining after a duckI also know that owners like their retrievers are all different, so I offer many different training options. Whatever you are looking for in retriever training I have it. My goal is to create a program that not only will fit the retrievers needs but also the owners. Whether it is sending your puppy away for puppy head start, needing extensive assistance in hunt test training and preparation, or training for your Master Hunter on your own with a little help from a professional dog trainer-I can help.

Adrienne Hardin at the 2010 Master National with Knight's Red Rusty MH and golden retrieverI offer two comprehensive boarding and training programs at my dog boarding school located at my kennel in Scappoose Oregon, near Portland Oregon.  You can enroll your dog in the 90 day Gun Dog Training Boarding school program or the 90+ day Hunt Test Training Boarding school program.  Additionally, I offer group classes, workshops, private one-on-one lessons and group training days.  All of these options can and will cover all the essentials in preparing your hunting dog for all types of waterfowl hunting,  (duck hunting and goose hunting) upland bird hunting and/or successful Hunt Test Training.  Read more about the different professional retriever training options below then contact me and we can create a plan just for you and your retriever.

My Little Brown dog, "Hemi"

The last 30 days have been hard for Hemi and I. I went from entering Hemi in Summer Hunt Tests and getting her ready for her first Agility trial. To sleeping on the floor with her as she quivered in pain. To her feeling better and exercising. To once again taking her to the veterinarian but this time a specialist.
