Rogue Retrievers Breeding Program
At Rogue Retrievers, I specialize in AKC Hunt Test training, gun dog training for water fowl and upland bird hunting, and obedience for competition as well as the family pet. I have been training dogs since I was just a kid in 4-H, I started training professionally in 2000 at Minoggie Kennel under Doug Shade and Patti Kiernan. I have been training on my own since 2005. I also breed retriever puppies at me kennel in Portland, Oregon area. As of now I have puppies all over the states from California to Montana to Illinois. Most of my puppies are family pets but, many also compete in AKC Hunt Tests, UKC Hunt Tests, Duck Dog Challenge, AKC Rally and hunt. Recently, I have been breeding chocolate Labradors but in the next few years I will also have black and yellow Labrador retrievers and golden retrievers. My puppies are are lovingly bred and raised in my home kennel, just north of Portland, in Scappoose, Oregon.
In addition to the breed of Labrador I offer two kinds of labs, field labs and companion labs. Field labs are bred specifically for hunting and competing, they can also be pets but need a lot of exercise. If you are interested in a field lab but are not a hunter they can also be very happy with an active lifestyle...IE hiking, jogging, and/or agility. Companion Labradors or Show Labradors are a little calmer Labrador more suited for the family but can also be taught to hunt. When looking for a puppy and researching breeders I strongly suggest educating yourself in the difference of the two Labradors. The aptitude of the retriever puppies for sale depends on their lineage and therefore prospective owners will be pre-qualified to ensure that the retriever puppies are going to be placed in the right home environment.
As a dog trainer, I see a lot of puppies/dogs that come to me from poor breeding or just uneducated breeders who do not understand how important early socialization is for a puppy. Because of this, I spend tons of hands on time with my puppies from day one!!! I socialize the retriever puppies with people and other dogs. I keep my puppies until they are 8 weeks to socialize and learn from their litter mates, I also socialize my puppies with my other dogs with supervised "play time". The puppies are also handled a lot. In the beginning they are just around me and my family we hold and "play" with them even when they are very young. As the puppies get older they meet lots of people and kids. My nieces are known to spend lots of time with the puppies. Additionally, introductory potty training, puppy obedience, and hunting can also taught.
I also see puppies/dogs in poor health that could have been prevented with proper health clearances before breeding. All of my breeding stock have had all of the their clearances before being bred. My girls have their Hip, Eye, and Elbow clearances. They are also tested for EIC, CNM and PRA. Plus, all my puppies are de-wormed, micro-chipped, vaccinated, and have their dew claws removed.
At this time Rogue Retrievers offers Chocolate Labrador Retrievers, but soon I will offer Black and Yellow Labrador Retriever and Golden Retriever puppies for sale. Please check back periodically on my website for specific information on litters of retriever puppies for sale. Each upcoming litter of puppies has a description of what type of potential they will have and therefore what type of person/family they would be best suited for. My Little Brown dog, "Hemi"
The last 30 days have been hard for Hemi and I. I went from entering Hemi in Summer Hunt Tests and getting her ready for her first Agility trial. To sleeping on the floor with her as she quivered in pain. To her feeling better and exercising. To once again taking her to the veterinarian but this time a specialist.
