Rogue Retrievers: Meaning Behind Name

Most of you know me as Adrienne Hardin, or the girl that used to work at Minoggie Kennels. Over the last few years of training, on my own, I have not had an official business name. It has been really hard for me to pick a name that I liked. At a Hunt Test it was suggested to me that, “all you need to do is name your kennel after some river.” At first, I thought nothing of this advice. Then I gave it further thought. Being from Coquille, Oregon, I thought of the Coquille River. The name “Coquille Retrievers” just didn’t work for me. So I kept brainstorming. Since I was born in Gold Beach, Oregon I thought of the Rogue River. I then thought a little about the word “rogue” which has a slang meaning of “wild” and for those of you that know my dogs and how hard they run, “wild” describes them nicely so, Rogue Retrievers it is!

New Years Training Tip

Hunting season is coming to an end and Hunt Test season is starting soon. Start you Hunt Test training on a POSITIVE note. For those of you who have been hunting your dogs have probably picked up a few bad habits. Don’t expect to fix them all on the first day of training! Also, all bad habits are NOT fixed with the e-collar! For those of you who have not been hunting your dogs probably need to get back in shape. Start with long singles.

My Little Brown dog, "Hemi"

The last 30 days have been hard for Hemi and I. I went from entering Hemi in Summer Hunt Tests and getting her ready for her first Agility trial. To sleeping on the floor with her as she quivered in pain. To her feeling better and exercising. To once again taking her to the veterinarian but this time a specialist.
